for the elimination of bacteria & germs
Heat is a key factor in reducing and eliminating bacteria and germs!
In the case of bacteria and germ reduction, higher temperatures begin the breakdown of germs. In general, temperatures of 85-100 ºC will quickly bring a drastic reduction in bacteria colonies, although only temperatures close to 155 ºC will eliminate many germs completely. Nilfisk hot water high-pressure washers have a cleaning temperature of over 80 °C and in steam mode even over 100 ºC. Thus, bacteria can be effectively combated with these devices!

Hygiene
Reduced bacteria and virus counts
Heat is a key factor in reducing and eliminating bacteria and germs making surfaces not only clean but more hygienic. A study by the Thuringen State Office for Agriculture found that, while cleaning with cold water had no impact on bacteria count, raising the temperature to 60˚C reduced the number of bacterial colonies by 90%. At 80˚C bacterial colonies were reduced by 97%, and at 155˚C they were eliminated entirely.
Efficiency
Better, faster cleaning results
Hot water reduces cleaning times by an average of 40%, up to 75% in some cases where grease, fats and oils are present think about how much more cleaning you could get done with that extra time. Hot water also reduces the drying time, this means the areas and items you’ve cleaned are available/accessible for use sooner.
Sustainability
Lower resource consumption
As hot water reduces cleaning time, there is less water and energy required. For every 1,000 litres of water required for cold water cleaning, using hot water will save at least 400 litres. Due to the cleaning power of hot water, a decreased amount of detergent or disinfectant is required to achieve the same level of cleaning or sanitisation. Shorter cleaning times also mean less energy consumption.
Common Applications
Across industries globally, cleaning teams are being asked to clean more surfaces, faster and more efficiently. Whether it’s sanitising shopping trolleys, cleaning floors, or pressure washing agricultural equipment, hot water is one of the most powerful tools in your toolbox.
